A man from Stockport has been prosecuted for fly-tipping following investigations by Stockport Council's Area Condition Officers.
James Nicholson, aged 18, of Torquay Grove, Stockport appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25th June. He pleaded guilty to fly-tipping three bin bags of drink cans and bottles on St Thomas's Place at the junction with Wellington Road South.
Mr Nicholson was given a six months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £319.40 towards court costs.
Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, Executive Member for the Environment said: "Fly tipping is an anti-social and disgusting habit and will not be tolerated in Stockport. Where this sort of environmental crime is found our enforcement team will do what they can to identify and prosecute the criminals responsible. The council works hard to keep our borough clean but prevention is always better than cure."
If you wish to report an individual or company for fly-tipping or any other enviro-crime such as fly-posting, graffiti or littering contact the Council on 0845 833 4444 or email stockportdirect@stockport.gov.uk
