"Moles" back on a Mission

Stockport's popular Pothole Moles are back with a mission this autumn - to blitz even more potholes across local roads.

The specialist road repairs hit-squad was set up by the Council two years ago to make pothole repairs more efficient. They move around, targeting work, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

The team successfully repaired over 2,000 potholes, using 90 tonnes of material, and are now going back on their rounds - with help from local residents.

Councillor David White, Executive Member for Transportation, said: "From Brinnington to Bramhall the team will be going above and beyond the usual highway maintenance service by targeting local areas, and freeing up the regular service to concentrate their work on more strategic routes. After the last blitz on neighbourhoods we're pleased to be able to continue funding the team so they can continue to make a real difference."

Guided by the Council's annual highways safety inspection, the team will again target local streets one neighbourhood at a time, starting in Reddish before moving onto Brinnington and the town centre. Residents are encouraged to report any potholes in their area, which will be added to the Pothole Moles' action list.

Find out more about the Pothole Moles at www.stockport.gov.uk/potholes or phone 0845 833 4444 to report a pothole.
