New service director at Stockport Council

Chris McLoughlinChris McLoughlin

Chris McLoughlin has been appointed as Stockport Council's new Service Director (Social Care and Health) within the Children & Young People's Directorate. She joins the local authority on 10th August 2009.

Chris is currently a District Manager for Children's Services in central Manchester, working for the City Council.

She started her local government career over twenty years ago working for Manchester City Council. In 1999, she took up an additional role of
Consultant Advisor for the Department for Education and Skills, a position she held until 2004. She moved up to her present position in 2007 and has recently combined her core role with that of Senior Business Change Manager
for Children's Services.

Chris, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be moving to the role of Service Director for Social Care and Health at Stockport Council. I'm looking forward to working closely with all my colleagues, partner agencies, parents and children to ensure that we continue to deliver high quality services.

"Promoting the future success, health and well-being of Stockport's children and families will be my absolute goal. Involving children and families in ur service planning to ensure that they have a real influence and voice to
bring to service improvements will also be an essential element of my work."


At Stockport, Chris will have responsibility for ensuring that our children
and young people are healthy, and stay safe, which will involve managing
services including fostering, adoption and residential care, plus early
intervention, family support services, support for children in care, and
Stockport children and young people's disability partnership.
