Family Based Care

If you can spare a few hours, a week or longer, you could help make a difference to someone's life. Family Based Care work alongside vulnerable adults and older people. This can include people with disabilities or those who have mental health needs.
As a carer, you could help in one or more of the following ways:
- Day Care - supporting someone for a few hours a week, in a variety of settings.
- Short Term - Helping someone to take a break by providing overnight care, from one night to a few weeks.
- Longer Term - Welcoming someone to live in your home, as part of your family.
You will be offering people the help and encouragement they need to develop the skills required to live an independent life.
There are set payments for day-care, short breaks and longer term support, and expenses are also paid.
All carers are subject to an approval process, which involves individual assessment. Support and training will be provided.
