Shop Local card benefits outlined to Neston's business community

Published: 17th March 2010 09:19

The advantages of the Charisma Resident's Card - part of the Cheshire West and Chester Council's Shop Local campaign - have been outlined to Neston's business community.

The most recent Neston Business Networking event was used as a vehicle for Neston and District Chamber of Trade and Neston Town Council to co-host a presentation at Marietos Café to raise awareness of the initiative designed to promote local businesses.

The Place Marketing Team from Cheshire West and Chester Council presented the benefits of the card to businesses in the area - and also its local residents.

Several businesses within Neston have signed up to the scheme and it is hoped that local residents using the card will buy locally thus helping to boost the local economy and improve the well-being of the community.

Carrie Spacey, Neston and District Chamber of Trade, said: "This is a great opportunity for shops and services to get involved in a scheme to persuade more people to use local businesses more often.

"This scheme has been running successfully in Chester since 2003 and with the support of the local businesses, we are optimistic that it can be just as successful in Neston."

One of the main attractions for businesses is that it's free to join and for the residents it offers a range of discounts at local businesses including restaurants, hair and beauty salons and stores.

There are currently over 270 businesses accepting the Charisma card within the Cheshire West area. The team will be working with local towns and villages across Cheshire West in the coming month to boost the membership from businesses and residents.

Charisma produces a monthly e-newsletter highlighting the latest offers, new businesses joining plus regular competitions. One card is available free for every household. For further information and to apply for a card visit the Charisma website.
