Following the announcement earlier this month that Iceland's Neston branch is set to close in March, there was speculation that it was due to a rent hike.

A spokesperson for Iceland has now stated: "We can confirm that the Iceland store in Neston will be closing next year because of its small size, which restricts the range we are able to carry, and intense competition in the area.
"We are very grateful for the custom and support of the community over the years. Iceland is continuing to open new stores and will review any suitable opportunities that may arise."
The branch will close on March 19th 2016.
As mentioned in the article on AboutMyArea on December 14th, there are brighter spots on the horizon for the town centre, with at least four currently empty premises about to be filled. More details here.
