The pupils of Neston Primary School enjoyed a very busy week exploring the art, music and dance of Africa.
The week started with a drumming workshop, in which the children were able to play authentic African instruments. The day ended with pupils performing for their parents in the open air.
Art dealer and restauranter Anne-Marie Groenewald of 'Jabula African Restaurant', Ellesmere Port, brought a wide range of artefacts for the children to examine. She told them the stories behind each item and explained how they were made. The children also had the opportunity to taste a range of food including crocodile!
Three coaches were needed as the whole school and Acorn Playgroup visited Chester Zoo. The children enjoyed seeing a range of African animals up close and collected ideas and inspiration for their own artwork.
The children took part in dance and drama sessions as well as producing some stunning artwork throughout the week. The week ended with a 'show and tell' assembly in which the art, dance, music and drama was shared.
Annabel Elliot, Deputy-Headteacher, said,"We are delighted with our arts week. The children were able to take part in so many activities and work with so many talented people.
"The children are very proud of the work they created and what they have achieved this week."
