Author: Trish Carter Published: 13th January 2014 09:11

Hall filled with loyal customers and newcomers for Welcome Café opening Dedication Prayer and Thanks led by Rev Marcus Torchon.

Rev Torchon opens the Welcome CafeThe newly painted and decorated Hall at Neston Methodist Church & Community Centre was filled with loyal customers and newcomers for the launching of "The Welcome Café", formerly the Drop In, on Friday January 10.

The new name reflects more closely our All Welcome approach to all Friday Market shoppers and visitors to Neston.

Rev Marcus Torchon formally unveiled the "plaque" and led the customers and volunteer staff in Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving, with the assistance of Mark Thomas (who tickled the ivories!) and Len Sloan (reflections on the word "welcome").

The photo below  shows customers and volunteers in the bright and airy Hall. If you are in Neston on Friday market day, why not call by for a cup of tea/coffee, a friendly chat, and a light bite if you are feeling peckish? We are open 9.30 am - 12.30 pm, and serve Tea, Coffee, Hot chocolate; home baked fruit pies, crumbles, cakes; freshly made sandwiches with wholemeal bread; cheese and/or beans on toast or baked potatoes.

Customers enjoy The Welcome Cafe fare.Free Wi-Fi is available from 10 am - 12 noon, courtesy of the Neston Community Cyber Centre - see the Cyber Centre Buddy on duty for more information. "The Welcome Café" is staffed entirely by volunteers, and profits go to the up-keep and maintenance of the whole building.

There is a Sales Table with bric-a-brac and Books/Magazines - just browse to see what is there. "The Welcome Café" supports local and national charities, and holds regular fundraising activities throughout the year.

A Shoppers Service is also open to everyone, and is held in the Church on Fridays at 10.30 am - 11 am, and all are very welcome to attend.

Where we are: Neston Methodist Church & Community Centre, corner of Park St and Liverpool Rd, CH64 3RB - entry on Park St side via the glass porch doors.
