Local Vet Warns of Dog Illnesses in Neston Area
|Author: Richard Sanderson||Published: 4th February 2018 18:31|
Currently in Neston and on the Wirral we are seeing huge numbers of dogs with gastrointestinal disease, and have seen an unusually high number of very sick dogs requiring IV antibiotics and fluid therapy.
Local vet Richard Sanderson is offering advice and blood tests.
We are also now seeing reports of cases of Parvovirus in the area. Parvovirus is a severe disease which can ultimately lead to death. It often causes vomiting and diarrhoea with blood in it, and prompt veterinary advise is the key to successful treatment. Dogs can become very unwell, and I would encourage everyone to seek prompt veterinary care - 24 hours can be pivotal in the outcome.
The virus is preventable via vaccination so I would recommend you check your pet is up-to date with their vaccinations. If you have any doubt please contact your veterinary surgeon, and if your vaccinations have lapsed I would recommend booking in as soon as possible.
At Sanderson Vet, we are available for our clients 24-7 to ensure the highest standards of care. In response to the recent illnesses, we have decided to offer subsided comprehensive blood sampling for just £10 between February 8th and 19th.
Full details of the offer are:
- FREE blood test for all animals undergoing sedation/GA
- £10 blood test with every consultation/vaccination
- £10 in the clinic on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday
- £35 in the home on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
