Partners Come Together to Secure Funding for Neston Park

Sytchcroft Park in Neston is to be transformed by a new play area and attractive landscaping. Plans are available to view now.
Funding to improve the site has been secured from partners - the top three funders are the Neston S106 group (£90,000), Wren (£44,954) and Neston Town Council (£12,500). The funding will now be spent on a new play area, multi-use games area, extra footpaths and wider landscaping in the park, which is situated between Sytchroft and Liverpool Road in Neston.
The park as it is now.
A further contribution from Adactus Housing will enable CCTV and lighting improvements to be installed on the existing cycle path through the site to Neston Station, an approach supported by Cheshire Police and the Council's highways team.
Engagement will also take place with Neston High School and Neston Primary School to draw up and implement a community art project for the site. This could be an entrance feature, signage, or ‘daily mile' markers.
Maria Byrne, the Council's Director of Place Operations, said: "I am proud of the achievements of the partnership.
"I am delighted to report the fantastic response to the call to improve this area of Neston. We have secured significant funding from a variety of contributors to make a real difference to the park.
"We will now work together to deliver the plan and we are excited at the prospect of a revamped community space this coming autumn."
Cheshire West and Chester Council and Neston Town Council carried out public consultations in 2016 and 2017, presenting ideas on how to improve the whole Sytchcroft site. The views and ideas of the community have been incorporated into the final design.
A contractor will be appointed over the coming months.
Plans are available to view.
Local residents can view the plans and find further information at Neston Library, Neston Community Youth Centre and Neston Town Hall during the Easter holiday period. Please email the Council with your feedback: PlayStrategy@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
