Thousands of women took place at the annual event ‘Race For Life' on Weston-super-Mare's beach; it has attracted the best number of entrants in years.
There were over 3,444 places in total and entrants ran or walked the 5k along Weston's beach and hoped to raise funds in excess of £120.000 this year 2009.

Taunton entrants Jemma Lang and Lou Coomber both took part conveying messages on their back in memory of their loved ones. Jemma who recently lost her Auntie this month and Lou lost her mum when she was 5.. both through cancer.
The race was held at the Weston-Super-Mare resort for the sixth year running which has raised more than £600,000 since it started there in 2004.
The sponsorship money will go directly towards Cancer Research work into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.
Race for Life aims to raise £46 million overall by bringing 750,000 women together raising sponsorship for the lifesaving work of Cancer Research UK.
