Race for Life 2007

Alison Nolan, a Race for Life Organiser, was pleased to announce that 1,300 local ladies took part in the Castle Donington Race for Life event at Donington Park which is expected to raise in the region of £130,000!
It was a fabulous day, the rain held off, although it was very cold for this time of year. The AboutMyArea team, nicknamed DE74 Divas, powered walked all the way round and raised approximately £200 towards this very worthy cause.

We didn't manage to take any photographs this year as power walking with a camera is a tricky task and our supporters ended up attending an Awards Evening at Castle Donington Community College which was taking place at the same time.

Cancer Research UK are hosting a 2007 Race for Life event at Donington Park, Castle Donington. They are appealing for everyone to take part and help smash their fundraising target of £237,000 - and have a great day out with family and friends too!

The event starts at 7.30pm, but please make sure you arrive an hour before so that you can take part in the warm-up. Our 5km course will take you round Donington Park and the surrounding areas. It's a fantastic location, and this year we want to see 3000 women run, jog or walk the course to help more people survive cancer.
Since it started in 1994, Race for Life has grown to become the UK's biggest women-only fundraising event. All the money raised by our participants helps fund the crucial work of Cancer Research UK - the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.
