Approximately 50 people attended the Castle Donington Neighbourhood Forum on Saturday 19th January 2008.
The event began with a short presentation about Neighbourhood Forums and how they work.
There then followed a presentation by Shaun Ambrose-Jones from the Parish Plan Steering Group who gave details about the consultation work that has already been done in Castle Donington.
The main focus for local people was the proposal for a new housing development of 350 houses and a representative from the District Council's Planning Team held a question and answer session with residents about the proposal.
Helene Brown, Neighbourhoods Programme Manager at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "We were pleased with the turnout for this first meeting of the Castle Donington Neighbourhood Forum.
"Key issues identified by residents included improved leisure facilities, tackling anti-social behaviour and providing better facilities for young people. However, residents did say that they like living in Castle Donington because it has lots of amenities, shops and restaurants plus a strong community spirit.
"We will now be working through the issues raised and look to progress them in the future."
The Forum was attended by Councillor Tony Saffell and Councillor Gerald Dalby.
The date for the next forum has not yet been planned but it is likely that they will be held twice a year.
