For monetary info
- At the start of the project we were paying £129.50 a month in Gas / Elec Direct Debit per month
- This reduced to £87 by September 2007 ...
- We had a cheque for £90 odd back from the electricity and Gas we are around 150 in credit!!
Yesterday I changed from Npower to Scottish Power Green Fund .. so electricity I purchase now is supplied by wind farms etc and effectively should be carbon neutral.
And guess what... payments now £77 ish a month even after switching to green !
This is all prior to Solar so expect to save even more pennies to spend on my new toy ( I mean on Carol and the kids I suppose!)
Central Heating still only being called on demand, not set to come on by timer as yet as still comfortably warm methinks.
So... Insulation, Low energy bulbs, turning things off and being a little more focused has made a substantial difference.
Solar Panels being fitted The solar has now been finished and we intend to switch on either tomorrow or Saturday (just need to upgrade the consumer box earth) prior to getting my installation certificate.
Local news - the airport (East Midlands) as just been voted the most Carbon Friendly in Europe and are looking to install wind turbines to support their power requirements. Will break out the shower cap and loofer for Declan on Monday.
I have also started to notify the neighbours of the noisy infra red scanning truck early Monday! I will be so popular! Getting everybody woken up so nice and early!!
I have set up a temporary email address for those wishing to seek any further advice or submit useful ideas - please feel to contact us HFM@ntlworld.com
