`The Enchanted Forest' - brand new indoor exhibit opens at CONKERS

"Come and have the time of your life and experience all the wonders and adventure of a woodland world" - that's the message in the latest indoor exhibit being unveiled at CONKERS on Thursday 29th March.
Crawl along tunnels, shoot down slides and scramble over netting - all within a fantastic indoor woodland climbing world.
Conkers ForestCourtesy of Darren Cresswell Children from Woodville Infant School in Swadlincote, Derbyshire were present at the opening to try out the new exhibit.
Called `The Enchanted Forest', the exhibit is a giant, fully interactive experience of life in the forest canopy and has been created from timber across multi-levels high above existing exhibits at CONKERS Discovery.
Adults and children alike will enter the exhibit through giant worm tunnels to share all of woodland life from a forest creature's perspective - and the woodland adventure will cover several hundred metres of crawls, climbs and clambers.
The Enchanted Forest' includes spiral caterpillar slides, timber suspension bridges, cargo netting for scaling, viewing platforms and steep crawls upwards right into the CONKERS' roof and a tube to the outside at the top of the building.  It has giant acorns and mushrooms, a precarious beehive climb, net elevations, a huge bird's nest and spider's web, a finger leaf maze and a butterfly rooftop.
To complete the experience there will be a video interactive of an eagle swooping on its prey and woodland noises throughout - of a caterpillar munching, birds singing, insects crawling, animals eating and rustling leaves beneath one's feet.
Conkers ForestCourtesy of Darren Cresswell  ‘The Enchanted Forest' is a spectacular woodland adventure - indoors - and is a breathtaking sight, rising high above the existing exhibits in CONKERS Discovery.  It is suitable for all ages from 4-years old upwards and there is a soft woodland adventure play area for toddlers.
"This really will be a fantastic indoors experience for visitors to CONKERS", said Mike Ballantyne, Project Director of the Heart of the National Forest Foundation which has led the creation of CONKERS.
"It really doesn't matter what the weather's like outside - CONKERS has a real life woodland adventure, indoors, that will be both exhilarating and challenging for children and adults of all ages."
Since opening in 2001, CONKERS has welcomed over 1¼ million visitors and has won innumerable tourism, architectural and environmental awards.  ‘The Enchanted Forest' is part of the Heart of the National Forest Foundation's ambitious plans for the future growth of the attraction.
