Come and discover the hidden house where time has stood still. Calke Estate has been preserved as found telling the tale of an eccentric family.
Calke Abbey
Calke Abbey is a unique house, completed in 1704. This great house has been preserved as it was found in the 1980s, giving visitors a chance to explore a period when great country houses struggled to survive. The mansion and stables, in their faded glory, tell the tale of an eccentric family who amassed a huge collection of hidden treasures. End your visit along the twists and turns of the cellars and Servants Tunnel - if you dare!
In the gardens, explore the delights of the 18th century glass domed orangey, the walled gardens and the unique Auricula Theatre. Also don't miss out on a chilling experience in the Ice House. Calke Park is a National Nature Reserve set in over 600 acres. Why not go on a mini adventure to see deer and meet a 900-year-old oak?
There is plenty for the family including our new children's play area, I-spy sheets in the house and a tracker pack for exploring the park full of puzzles, stories and wildlife activities.
Calke hosts a number of events throughout the year from family fun days to guided walks and talks.
