Leicestershire Taxis Carry Behaviour Message
| Published: 1st July 2010 17:08 |
Leicestershire Constabulary is going the extra mile to stamp out anti-social behaviour.
Chief Inspector Martin Halse with one of the
campaign taxis and Shahzad Muhammad, its driver. That's the message which will be taken round the streets of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland on a fleet of taxis over the next month.
The 25 black cabs each carry the slogan: "Tackling not tolerating: We're tackling crime and anti-social behaviour on your area."
It reflects the Force's commitment to take action against anti-social behaviour which encompasses a wide range of unacceptable activity including vandalism, graffiti, nuisance neighbours and intimidating groups taking over public spaces.
Anti-social behaviour can ruin lives and create an environment where more serious crime can take hold. This approach is just part of our overall ‘Safer Summer' campaign which is aimed at ensuring everyone can enjoy the summer months.
Chief Inspector Adam Streets, of the Force's Safer Communities Team, leads the Force's response to anti-social behaviour. He said:
"Your local authority, the police and social landlords all have strong and effective powers to deal with anti-social behaviour problems. If anti-social behaviour is affecting you or your family, you can expect your council and the police to treat the problem seriously, take action and then report back to you what they have done.
"Our message to you is that you should not tolerate bad behaviour, we are putting the ‘tackling not tolerating' message on taxis as a way of making this commitment clear to our communities."
In the past the Force has used taxi advertising to carry information about the introduction of the Policing Pledge, and its Christmas drink-driving campaign.
