This isn't just a Noise - it's an M&S Noise!

Castle Donington residents have been wondering what the noise is coming from the East Midlands Distribution Centre that many people can hear starting up at 7:00am most mornings.
AboutMyArea/DE74 has done some investigating and can report the following:
M&S Building east side viewThe noise is being created by equipment brought in to clear the foundations of the old power station cooling towers.
The reason for doing this is that building contractors, Winvic, are clearing the foundations to enable the construction of one of the largest buildings the East Midlands have ever seen.
Planning applications reveal that permission has been granted by North West Leicestershire District Council for a massive building, possibly the largest in the East Midlands. The building will be over 28m high (nearly 100 feet), 200m deep and 800m (half a mile!) wide. In all it will be nearly 1,000,000 square feet.
The building has been commissioned by what is described as a major prestigious UK company. Although all those involved appear to be bound by a non-disclosure agreement there are too many unconfirmed reports that the prestigious UK company is actually Marks and Spencer and this new building will be their e-commerce centre for the whole UK.
It is anticipated that this new building will employ 600 - 1,000 people once operational which maybe as early as this time next year. As the Company currently has a distribution centre in Long Eaton employing nearly 300 and this is set to close AboutMyArea/DE74 is uncertain how many jobs this new building will create for local residents.
What is certain is that this building will dominate the view of Castle Donington from the A50 and probably from much of the village itself.
Amazing what you discover when investigating noise.
