Valley Community Forum Arrives in Castle Donington

Published: 16th April 2008 16:23
Valley Community Forum

Speak out and help shape services at new meeting.  Hospital volunteer transport and what choice in healthcare means for local residents are just two topics people can have a say on at a new, interactive meeting.

Residents living in North West Leicestershire between Lockington and Normanton le Heath will also be able to find out about priorities for the local area and parish plans at the Valley Community Forum.

Community Forums are a new kind of meeting allowing people to learn about bigger issues affecting the area, get answers to queries and influence local decision-making.

Anyone with a query about a local issue such as speeding and community facilities can also go along and quiz people in a 'Question Time' session.

People from local authorities and the NHS will be on hand to talk about their services and answer questions - all residents need to do to take part is turn up.

Trevor Pendleton, Chair of the Valley Community Forum, said: "I would urge residents to have a say at the forum and get invovled in local decision-making. Even if we can't give an answer on the spot, we will make sure that a response is posted on the interactive community forum website."

Valley Community Forum is being held in the Catholic Church Hall in Castle Donington at 6pm on Thursday, 24th April. The meeting is open to residents from Castle Donington, Kegworth, Long Whatton, Belton, Breedon, Worthington, Swannington, Packington and surrounding areas.

The Ashby Area Community Forum, chaired by Sean Sheahan, is on Tuesday, 29th April at 6pm in St. Laurence's Church Hall, Measham and will discuss issues around palliative care and how residents can make choices about where they receive health care.
