Borrow Talking Books for Free

Published: 9th May 2008 17:54

Children aged 11 and under can now borrow talking books (storybooks on c d and tape) for free from Kegworth Library and Castle Donington Library.

Castle Donington LibraryCastle Donington LibraryThere are lots of wonderful talking books for children to choose from, including their favourite authors like J K Rowling, Jacqueline Wilson, Anthony Horowitz, Roald Dahl and many others. If a talking book isn't available in their local library, children are able to request the title for free from another Leicestershire Library.

This is one of Leicestershire Library Services' initiatives to celebrate the National Year of Reading and will help to make books and reading more accessible to all children.

Head of Library Services, Margaret Bellamy said: "We are really pleased that children are now able to listen to books as well as read books for free. It is really important to encourage children's love of books and reading and we hope that this will help more children and their families to enjoy reading and stories."

The National Year of Reading is running throughout 2008 and is not just about books: it is about reading anything, anywhere and anytime.
