Castle Donington's Farmers' Market - July
| Published: 16th July 2007 13:15 |
Castle Donington's Farmers' Market held on Saturday at St. Edward's School was blessed with fine weather after a very wet week but the high quality of goods on sale is testament to the skill and perseverance of the local producers.
Of particular note were the beautifully fresh carrots, beetroot and hispi cabbage which had been gathered despite all the rain as well as the gooseberries, raspberries and strawberries.
A steady stream of shoppers visited the market throughout the morning despite local schools having begun the holidays this week. The Castle Donington Farmers' Market plays a vital role in the social life of the village with the refreshment room a popular meeting place.
The next market will be at St. Edward's School on Saturday August 11th at 9.00a.m until 12.30p.m and will link into the Family Learning Day at the Community College.
