Tree dedication in memory of Miss Eileen Stevens

Published: 1st October 2007 23:16
Tree Dedication                          *Tree dedication in memory of Miss Eileen Stevens*

Rev'd Andrew Micklethwaite with family & friends of Miss Eileen Stevens

On a fine but breezy Sunday afternoon, family, friends, representatives of the British Legion and members of Castle Donington & District Flower Club gathered in the churchyard of St Edward King & Martyr for the dedication of an oak tree, planted in memory of the late Miss Eileen Stevens.

Miss Stevens was a founding member and later Honorable President of the Castle Donington & District Flower Club. As such she helped the club grow into a thriving social group as well as a place to learn how to arrange flowers. She provided inspiration and guidance to all members of the club and took great pleasure in sharing her knowledge by teaching the finer points of flower arranging.

The club would like to thank The Rev'd Andrew Micklethwaite for conducting the short but moving dedication service. Tea and cakes were served in the Church Hall by the Committee of the Flower Club, following the service.

Miss Stevens lived her whole life in Donington and was an active member of the church and community. She will be missed by everyone.
