Those Monsters of Speed, the sporting heavyweights in the shape of five and a half ton racing Trucks that can out accelerate a Porsche 911 car, make a welcome return to Donington Park for their own brand of slip-sliding, tyre smokin' action in the TruckAttack Championship meeting on Sunday 27 July.
Trucks competing in the Delphi British Truck
Racing ChampionshipBig-time Truck racing in England was an instant hit, attracting massive crowds as it made a spectacular debut, some 24 years ago at the Leicestershire parkland circuit attracting then sporting stars among them Barry Sheene and Steve Parrish at the wheel.
The trucks, the race tuned versions of the tractor units to be seen pulling articulated trailers on the motorways, return to Donington Park after a four year break with a fantastic programme of both racing and fun attractions to make this the perfect day out with appeal for all of the family.
On the track the focus of attention will be on the scrap for points in the Delphi British Truck Racing Championship with over 20 of these 1000 horsepower, 100 mph trucks in action, among them one driven by the multi-times champion Stuart Oliver.
Around them, there is an all action support race programme includes the fast and furious Pick-Up Racing Championship, the exotic and the expensive cars in high-speed Ferrari Challenge action, the Legends Championship and the BMW Challenge.
Away from the track there will plenty to keep all ages happy with a BigFoot Monster Truck display, Children's activities and lots of impressive custom trucks.
Sunday July 27 is the day that Truck Racing comes home.
