Castle Donington Town FC vs Dronfield Town Reserves - Sat 22 March 08

Published: 26th March 2008 16:26

Dronfield Town Reserves 0 vs Castle Donington Town FC 2

Castle Donington Town FC made it two wins in a row at the weekend in The Belfields Regional Midlands Alliance Division 1 with a hard earned victory against Dronfield Town FC.

There was speculation before the match whether it was to be played due to weather conditions but as Donington arrived they was pleasantly surprised with the Dronfield pitch. They started the game in excellent fashion and had the ball in the net twice before the half hour mark only for them both to be controversially ruled off side. With the game dead locked at nil-nil the visitors did not lack goal scoring opportunities and it seemed only at matter of time when they got themselves on the score sheet. That time came on 68minutes when Donington striker Ryan Leavesley fired the ball home. Town then put the game to rest shortly afterwards when captain Tom Ballards pin point cross found Richard Fordham who headed Donington into a 2-0 lead. Town got a scare late-on but Man of the Match Oliver Fordham pulled off a fine save from a one on one.

Donington Goal scorer Ryan Leavesley said "This was a much needed win and it's long way to come to get a vital 3 points, we've had a dip in form as of recent but the lads have pulled them selves out of that and we just need to keep putting wins together. With a semi final fast approaching we still have lots to play for!"

Castle Donington Town FC are looking to carry on their winning form with a home tie against Derby Rolls Royce Leisure Reserves with a 3pm Kick Off.
