"Blast in the Park" - Fast Moving Action at Donington Park - Sat 12/Sun 13 April 2008

Published: 7th April 2008 10:58
Donington Park

The "Blast in the Park" event over the weekend of Saturday-Sunday 12-13 April provides an all action programme that features single seaters in the shape of the Formula Palmer Audi series, exotic  Ferrari and Porsche sportscars plus a three hour "Mini Le-Mans" endurance race.

The opening round of the Formula Palmer Audi Championship provides two races for these evenly matched scaled down grand prix type cars with around 20 young chargers looking to emulate the success of Tim Bridgman and Stefan Wilson, the 2007 McLaren Autosport award winner.

The MSV Racing organised event also features the first races in an eight event series for both the GT Cup and the VdeV UK.

The GT Cup has two races, each of 30 minutes duration for mouth-watering cars from marques including Ferrari, with their 360s, and Porsche, with 996s - expect to see a full grid of 38 of these supercars.

VdeV UK, for the uninitiated, is a three hour endurance race for 2 litre sports racing cars - mini Le Mans prototypes. This is the final race on the Sunday afternoon programme, and 25 of these cars slug it out around the Leicestershire Grand Prix circuit.

Meanwhile, the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy has two grids of double headers while there are races for Heritage Grand Touring Cars and Classic Clubmans. Heritage also boasts a full grid of GT cars from yesteryear and Classic Clubmans is always an exciting trip down memory lane.   Practice and qualifying begins at 09.00 on Saturday 12 April, with three races during the afternoon, while Sunday is the main race day with ten races including the two Formula Palmer Audi events, decided over 14 laps or half an hour.

Adult admission is £12 on each day, with accompanied children aged under 15 years admitted free of charge. All parking is free.
