Castle Donington Parish Plan Launch

Published: 15th April 2008 20:10

Parish Plans are a Central Government initiative whereby local volunteers consult parish residents on all aspects of life within the community, whether that is the environment, shops and services, transport, health, education, etc. They then summarise the findings and pull together an Action Plan for the future which key local services providers, including the County Council, District Council, Parish Council, the Police and the Primary Care Trust are obliged to respond to.

It is two years since the inception of the Castle Donington Parish Plan and 18 months since the questionnaires were distributed. An amazing 1,700 residents responded despite the questionnaire taking 2 hours to complete. As Committee Chairman, Shaun Ambrose-Jones says:

"That's 3,400 hours of the most credible and up to date feedback any service provider could possibly want and they therefore have to take it seriously."

The Castle Donington Parish Plan Steering Committee formally invites all local residents to the Launch Party of the Parish Plan. The event will take place from 6.30pm on St George's Day, Wednesday April 23rd, at the Donington Manor, the landmark hotel at the heart of the community.

The launch party has been set to formally present the document to the service providers for their responses. In fact they have already seen draft versions and the initial feedback is reportedly very positive. Many of them will be represented at the launch and there will be time for them to answer some of the issues raised personally.

The Steering Committee would like to extend an invitation to come along to all local residents particularly those who answered the questionnaire. The Committee is also very pleased to publicly thank the Donington Manor who have very kindly offered a welcome drink for everyone who attends.
