Police officers will return to the beat following a round of promotions and restructuring announced by the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary. Some 20 police constable posts will be returned to front line duties following management changes. The shake-up of the structure of Basic Command Units is expected to eventually save the force £500,000 in pay and National Insurance costs. The changes will take place with effect from 6 May. Chief Constable Stephen Otter said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our senior managers for their continued hard work and dedication to the task of providing the best possible service to the communities we serve." | |
