New £160,000 facilities improve Totnes Castle experience
English Heritage investment in new building -
A new chapter has opened in the long and proud history of Totnes Castle with the opening of a new admissions office and shop.
This new £160,000 building at the entrance to the site houses a shop and admissions office and will provide enhanced visitor facilities, better staff facilities and a friendly welcome to Totnes Castle.
English Heritage head of visitor operations for Devon, Matt Hart, said: "This superb new facility means we can offer more information on the castle and a wider range of items in the shop to people and provide a more comfortable environment for our staff.
"It also means that visitors now have somewhere to shelter on the site if it rains."
The new timber framed building, which is made of green English oak and roofed in Delabole slate, is located inside the outer wall of the castle and is part of a major investment in English Heritage visitor facilities across the country over the last three years, including a new admissions building at Restormel Castle and redesigned cafe serving local produce at Tintagel Castle.
