The Wessex Autistic Society says ‘Thank You' to volunteers

Chief Executive of the Society, Bob Lowndes personally thanked the volunteers for all their commitment and hard work. Throughout the year the volunteers have helped out in the office and provided the much needed man power to ensure events such as quiz nights, swimathons, concerts and fun runs have run smoothly. The Society's calendar of events would not be possible without the generosity and goodwill of their network of volunteers.
Debbie Anderson, Fundraising and Marketing Manager says: "The volunteers are an essential part of The Fundraising team, we could not do all the fundraising events and activities without their help. They are such a fundamental part of the team. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with events, collections and unique fundraising ideas, especially during our busy 40th year. So if there is anyone out there with a bit of spare time, fundraising is a perfect way to meet new people, help the community and also have a bit of fun!"
Janice Poulton, Volunteer for the Society says: "Before I became a volunteer I was a teacher in a special needs department working with children with autism, so when I moved to the area with my husband, David, and found out about the Portfield School we were both keen to become volunteers. We have both been volunteers for the Society for three years now and I can honestly say it has been and continues to be a delight. We help out at about three events a year, so it fits in nicely with our other work and personal commitments. After every event the Society has always written a letter to thank us for our time and to let us know how much has been raised from the event- the personal touch is great! It's just lovely to be able to see a provision made for those who suffer with autism and I will continue to volunteer for the Society as it is such a worthwhile charity."
