HELP FOR HEROES
The Lord Mayor of Exeter,Councillor Paul Smith, takes the salute, at the Guildhall on Tuesday 19th August, from our soldiers, marching through High St. Their starting point was Plymouth and they intend to march, in relays, to London.They are publicising a charity called Help for Heroes which cares for our wounded soldiers from places all over the world such as Afhganistan and Iraq. Money collected on route goes towards maintaining Hedley Court, where returning injured soldiers who require special needs are cared for. The marchers are carrying a stretcher draped in the Union Flag, on which is a scroll nameing everyone of the injured soldiers returning to the UK from these terrible places of conflict.
The soldiers are marching 258 miles in 5 days. People were very emotional watching these young men and girls and many were reduced to tears. To maintain Hedley Court requires a steady income and we can all help by supporting this Charity.Find out more details
Help for Heroes needs to raise a great deal of money and as that money comes in, we will spend it, on improving facilities like the pool complex or the relative's house at Selly Oak and by giving grants to the right organisations to ensure that our wounded get the very best.
Soldiers are giving their lives and sustaining horrific injuries. What can we give in return?
