Tom Thumb Lake at Eastbrookend Country Park, Dagenham, officially re-opened recently and is the first of its kind in the borough to offer fully accessible angling opportunities for novice and young fisherman.
The lake has had facilities put in place to make it easier for young people and people with disabilities to use the site. The lake has benefited from a new path, fishing platforms and aquatic planting.
It has been stocked with a variety of fish including Curcian Carp, Tench and Rudd. Reeds and lilies have also been planted to provide spawning areas for fish, with floating reed islands providing protection for birds visiting the lake.
