JAZZ ON THE GREEN
| Published: 28th August 2008 16:45 |

In the early 70's Hugh's Band held their first practice sessions at the former Church Elm Pub on Sunday afternoons after closing time and they are looking forward to returning to their home town.
It's a homecoming for Hugh Rainey and his Number One Traditional Jazz Band.
The event that is bringing them back is a Once-in-a-Lifetime experience being staged by the Dagenham Community Church. They are holding a Jazz spectacular on the Green, located at the rear of the church in Charlotte Road. It will all be happening on Saturday 6th September 2008, between 7:30 and 10:30pm.
Mark Halls, one of the Leaders at the Church says "We have been quietly supporting the community for over 30 years now and feel the time is now to put the Church clearly on the map. and to actively go out of our way meet the needs of the community. The Church has too often been seen as outdated and irrelevant to the day to day issues of life, and at Dagenham Community Church we are seeking to change that perception and to create an oasis where, to borrow a line from the theme tune of Cheers, You'll be glad you came and everyone knows your name. We hope this event will give our locals the opportunity to reminisce, kick up their heals, and enjoy the music.

Please remember that it's an out-door event, so come prepared. But if the weather is too bad - don't worry. We will move everything inside the Church Hall.
