Parsloes Park in Dagenham is getting ready for its biggest event of the year on the 2nd of August 2008, 11am till 6pm. In The Mix is a community cohesion initiative that brings the young and the elderly from various cultural background and race together to celebrate diversity.
This year will be the most exciting yet as it brings together a real mix of activities for all members of the community young or old. The festival hosts a fun fair with all kinds of rides, a parachute and skydiving display by the Red Devils, voluntary organisations showcase, music concert, talent contest, 5 a side football competition by Leyton Orient, Bingo and more.
The festival also has the support of local businesses including Dagenham travel, West & Coe, Wollens Estate agents, Coral and others. The event is also supported by The PCT, Syney Russel Childrens Centre, Musictek, DABD, INTERMED services, John Manning and sons fairs grounds, Time FM 107.5, The Post, The Recorder, AboutMyArea and many more.
In the Mix festival is an attempt to create a social platform for the Barking and Dagenham community for the purpose of helping integration and preventing isolation as it manifests in its many forms. In the Mix is a community cohesion festival aimed at bringing about better understanding and harmony in the community, especially across race, age and religion whilst celebrating talent and diversity.
Seedtime projects the event organizer is a local registered charity that work with young people and issues affecting them. Seedtime runs a range of projects including youth and job clubs that address prevailing issues including the likes of anti-social behavior, youth crime, sexual health and so on.
