Moving? How to Find a New Home
| Published: 22nd July 2008 22:20 |

Once you have chosen your ideal location and have done plenty of research to make sure the area is right for you and your family, it is time to start viewing properties. There are several ways to find your potential new home; here we cover the most popular ones:
1. Look online
90% of the properties for sale in the UK are advertised on the internet. There are several property websites, as well as local community websites that advertise properties, and some sellers even market their own properties themselves via the internet. A good first port of call!
2. Register with all your local estate agents
Apart from price band, number of bedrooms and location, stipulate any specific requirements such as the property should be in a good state of décor, must have double glazing and central heating, off street parking or a garage.
3. Look in the local newspapers
Apart from the estate agents' advertisements, you will also find properties being marketed by private sellers.
4. Go on a For Sale board spotting trip
Take a tour around the area you want to move to and look out for For Sale boards. You may see some properties being advertised by smaller, independent agents that don't advertise in the local papers - and you may even see some being advertised privately!
Finding the ideal new home can be an arduous task, but if you explore as many avenues as possible then you will have a much better chance of finding the one that is right for you and your family.
