Opera Novella - Verdi's Rigoletto
Breathtaking songs from the acclaimed Opera Novella will fill the Queen's Theatre near Romford when they perform the popular opera Rigoletto on Sunday 18 September at 5pm.
Verdi's powerful opera is sung in English by the multi-award-winning principal singers and chamber orchestra of one of the UK's most dynamic, exciting ensembles. The afternoon explodes with vocal fireworks, soaring beauty, stunning melodies and a thrilling, action-packed story.
Amanda Forbes as Gilda
A hunch-backed jester to a wealthy, debauched Duke, Rigoletto is disliked by the courtiers for making fun of everyone. When he finds himself the victim of a terrible curse, he does all he can to protect his pretty young daughter Gilda from the strife.
Audiences will recognise famous melodies such as La Donna è Mobile sung by The Duke, Caro Nome sung by Gilda and The Rigoletto Quartet.

Rigoletto stars Simon Lobelson as Rigoletto, Andrew Bain as The Duke and Amanda Forbes as Gilda. Other characters include Aidan Smith, Jonathan Pugsley, Daniella Ehrlich and Richard Rowe.
Baritone Simon Lobelson has worked with the English National and Touring Operas and various European opera companies. He has sung in the world's most exalted venues such as the Royal Opera House, Sydney Opera House, St Martin-in-the-Fields, York Minster and Durham Cathedral. Radio credits include BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM.
Versatile tenor Andrew Bain has performed around the globe and is producing an exciting album for SonyBMG fusing melodies from the opera and pop genres. He has worked on a BBC Radio 2 documentary about Mario Lanza and performed extensively in smash hit West End shows such as Les Misérables and Whistle Down the Wind.
Rising soprano star Amanda Forbes has worked with legends Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Dame Anne Evans. She has performed with the English National Opera, Scottish Opera On Tour, The Royal Academy of Music and has been a member of the highly prestigious Glyndebourne Festival Opera Chorus.
Direction is by Howard Guard, orchestral arrangement by Bernie Lafontaine and set and costume design by Patsy Fraser.
Opera Novella performs Rigoletto at the Queen's Theatre,
Billet Lane, Hornchurch on Sunday 18 September at 5pm.
