A classic ballet for the whole family
This winter experience the magic of the much loved ballet classic, The Nutcracker. Delight your eyes as young talented artists of the State Ballet Academy of Minsk, bring to you a professional performance of ‘The Nutcracker'. Amande Concerts present this ballet favourite to thirty-five venues across the UK. The tour will begin on Thursday the 6th of October and finish in the run-up to Christmas, on Sunday 20th of November.

Tchaikovsky's classic ballet has for generation's enchanted audiences with its spectacular performance of music and dance. It is based on the story ‘The Nutcracker and the King of Mice' by E. T. A. Hoffman, which follows the adventures of a young girl, Marie. Marie, who is given a Nutcracker doll for Christmas, enters a dreamlike land of magic where she soon discovers her Nutcracker prince and dances with beautiful snowflakes. Both children and adults cannot help but be captivated by Marie's miraculous adventures.
Minsk is a city that is acclaimed for its folk choreography and classic dance forms. With a population of two million it is home to the most talented young dancers of the State Ballet Academy. The academy was established in 1928, through its experience and professional curriculum it teaches enthusiastic young dancers, many of whom are graduates of the Saint Petersburg school and soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre. The Academy is a place where creativity blossoms. It has an outstanding level of teaching and performs on the world's best stages of Russia, Paris, London and New York. Many of their young artists have won prizes and diplomas in famous international ballet competitions in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Varna, Luxemburg and Helsinki. Students worldwide strive to attend the State Ballet Academy of Minsk.
The ballet is brought to life by 45 young artists. With their hard-work and experience, it will prove to be an unforgettable performance. Their dedication to their dance will be admired by ballet lovers, while the simple story of the Nutcracker will captivate children.
While the outstanding dancing of these young artists will no doubt amaze audiences, the fantastic set and beautiful costumes are to be admired. Alongside this, audiences will be treated to the popular compositions of Tchaikovsky's music. The score will include many favourites such as ‘The dance of the sugar plum fairy' and many more. All this will help to create a magical experience that families and ballet enthusiasts can enjoy in the up-coming months to Christmas.
The State ballet Academy of Minks will begin their tour in Dorking on Thursday 6 October 2011, and end with their finale in Harlow on Sunday 20 November 2011.
