Council Chairman To Host Civic Reception For East Riding Olympic Torchbearers
The Treasure House will be the venue for a civic reception to celebrate the achievements of the inspirational people who have been selected to be torchbearers for the Olympic Torch Relay.
Councillor Chad Chadwick, chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will congratulate those people who will be carrying the torch in the East Riding as well as those from the area carrying the torch elsewhere in the country.
The relay arrives in the East Riding in Bridlington at around 3pm on Monday, 18 June before passing through Beverley from around 4.17pm on its way to its overnight stop in Hull.
The torch will then head for York on Tuesday, 19 June passing through Brough from 7.37am and Goole at 8.29am.
The civic reception will be held on Thursday, 31 May at 7pm and will also be attended by the leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE.
Councillor Chadwick said: "As chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and a ward member for Bridlington, I am delighted to be hosting this event which will recognise the achievements of our torchbearers who are part of select band of 8,000 inspirational people carrying the Olympic Flame around the UK.
"The Olympic Torch Relay is a once in a life time opportunity and I am sure residents and visitors alike will celebrate the occasion and cheer on our torchbearers in a few weeks time."
