Recipe of the Week - Fondue Savoyarde
| Published: 17th April 2012 20:30 |
Voici la fondue savoyarde pour vos soirées, recette simple mais trés efficace... avec le fromage comté, l'emmental, le fribourg, le beaufort etc ...

As it's a personal favourite we searched for a Fondue Savoyarde recipe and this is the best we found so far - and it will do quite nicely thank you very much!
The cheeses can be varied but a Gruyere (e.g. Beaufort), Comte and Emmental are the essentials but we've seen variations with other Savoyarde cheeses such as Tomme.
For those non-french speakers, the other ingredients that are being added are a clove of garlic, corn flour (to help thicken) and ground nutmeg. Some people like to add a touch of cinnamon too. Oh, and the french bread/baguette is much better when it's a bit old and dried out - so best buy it a day in advance!
Also, when the fondue starts to thicken towards the end, it's traditional to throw into the bowl an egg, some Kirsch, the remaining bread and stir well in order to finish off the remainder of the contents of the pot.
Enjoy!
