Time Running Out For Chairman's Awards Nominations
Time is running out for residents to recognise those in the community who make a difference as nominations for this year's prestigious Chairman's Awards must be submitted by 31 January.
The awards, which are now in their 13th year and presented by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, are made to individuals, companies and organisations within the East Riding in recognition of their achievements towards enhancing the well-being of the area in which they work and live.
- The community category recognises groups and individuals for their contribution to improving the lives of those living in the East Riding with a non-commercial project.
- Built heritage celebrates private homes or business premises that have been sympathetically renovated and restored.
- The environment award is for projects that have made an impact in the environment whether by reducing waste disposal, addressing problems of litter, creating or enhancing wildlife habitats or for reducing pollution to air, water or land
- The business award recognises those who have helped the economy flourish. This can be through recent expansion, the creation of new jobs or investing in the training of employees and the area.
- The sport awards celebrate local sporting talent and sheer hard work and determination shown by many individuals in providing opportunities in sport and play across the East Riding.
Last year, Jane Cook, managing director of The Rocking Horse Shop in Fangfoss, won the business award for under 50 employees.
She said: "It is an important award and a great accolade.
"The trophy is displayed proudly in the shop for all our customers to see.
Top entries in each category will be invited to an awards ceremony at The Spa, Bridlington in May, where the winners will be announced.
