The Spurn, Kilnsea and Easington Area Local Studies Group (SKEALS)
The Spurn, Kilnsea and Easington Area Local Studies Group (SKEALS) was formed in the summer of 2006. The Group's aims are:
- To bring together people interested in local history, and support them in sharing their knowledge and ideas.
- To encourage research and the collection and recording of information about the area.
- To disseminate information via events, publications, a web site, and any other means of communication
This history of the local bus company of Connor & Graham is our first publication. Our members are currently researching a variety of other topics of historical interest relating to the area, and we have plans to publish the results in due course. Information on our activities and projects will be reported on our web page at http://www.skeals.co.uk/. The web site is updated frequently and already includes a wide range of material on our area. Skeals has already carried out several projects, including the renovation of a historic plaque, and work on some early gravestones formerly used as a path and now placed in Easington churchyard. Exhibitions, talks, and other public events are also part of our programme. We welcome members, both locally and from further afield. If you are interested in taking an active part in SKEALS, or if you have historical material, such as photographs, letters, reminiscences and so on, that you think might be of interest, we would love to hear from you.
Our email addresses are skeals@btinternet.com and skealsgroup@hotmail.co.uk
