The prevention of equine abuse and their rehabilitation. 125 acre farm in AONB with highest numbers of species of flora & fauna for any Wealden Meadow Farm. The Charity also trains selected ponies for disabled persons and groups. Wendy, our p/t groom is the only person paid; otherwise we are all volunteers. Every penny raised goes to the animals welfare where it should. Site of the first wind generator to be designed & constructed in the guise of a traditional Sussex smock mill in an AONB to boot!
Our Vision-
This small charity, that accepts equines from all over the UK, has become admired by all National animal charities for attaining such a high profile without salaried workers. This truly is a charity that puts the animals far beyond any personal gain for the workers.
The Centre has just one more project to complete, the information Centre, costing about £80k and consisting of an audio-visual room, sales, point and cavalry interactive museum on a mezzanine floor in a Sussex-style barn on site.
Programmes and Activities-
There are two Open Days Annually, each raising about £4k and including a dog show, dancers, singers, stalls, bouncy castle, archery, pony rides, refreshments, BBQ, raffle & tombola.
Normally the first is in May and the second in September 10.30am to 4pm.
Volunteers are always welcome and given basic training; we aim to pamper our volunteers with use of the indoor heated pool & sauna and, of course, invitation to join in our social occasions. Volunteers are automatically entered into the Friends group, currently about 700, all of which receive 3 newsletters annually
