Rother based Spoken and Written Word competition
| Published: 19th March 2008 17:45 |
Rother District Council is looking for Rother residents to wax lyrical about the towns, coast and countryside of the District having been inspired by our beautiful and dramatic local environment.
We are looking to compile a snapshot of Rother and following the competition will produce a publication, highlighting the things we love about the area and the reason we choose to live here. We want a portrait of the sights, sounds, scenes and people told in four categories: fiction, poetry, non-fiction prose and memoir.
The competition will be judged by four Sussex based professional writers: thriller writer Andy Oakes; novelist, journalist and non-fiction author Charlotte Moore; poet, radio playwright & short story writer Catherine Smith; and poet and theatre practitioner Rosemary Harris.
There are cash prizes for each category with separate prizes for under 18 entries.
The deadline for entries is Friday 2nd May 2008 and winners will be notified by Friday 30th May.
For competition terms and conditions and submission forms please go to the Arts Development pages, under Leisure and Tourism at www.rother.gov.uk . Alternatively call the Leisure Services department on 01424 787582.
