| Published: 12th August 2008 23:08 |
Battle & District Arts group are clearly a thriving body of artists and artistic ability. Once again, this year, they have produced an art exhibition full of enjoyment for the visitor.
With over 300 paintings covering a wide range of colour schemes, subject matters, tehniques and sizes the artists on display are a credit to the Group.
A number of prizes have been awarded, which include:
- From Winchelsea by Kay Prior (Judges Postcards Award)
- View of Fields, West Wittering by Andrew Theobald (Presidents Award)
- Rye Boats by June Sangster (Saffron Art Gallery Award)
- Along Ukham Lane by Nancy Sexton (Stan Rosenthal Award)
- Battle Abbey by Night by Lilian Forshaw (Observer Award)
Like many worthwhile local organisations the artists have provided a professional level of exhibition from a minimum of facilities. The exhibition is free to enter, although the 50p for a list of exhibitors is worth the money.
The exhibition is open every day until 16th August, manned by members of the Group so you can stop and chat to them. The opening hours are 10.00 until 17.30.
