Dodgy door to door carpet sellers - from Roger Cohen, Trading Standards
There has been a reported incident relating to carpet sellers in the St Leonard's area, Hastings. They are calling at addresses offering to sell cheap, quality carpets. On one occasion someone agreed to purchase a Wilton carpet. The person paid £390 for two rooms worth of carpet, a carpet was delivered but they were off cuts.
I would strongly advise you not to purchase goods from any door to door seller, as you do not know what you are necessarily buying and never part with money before the goods arrive. Protect yourself from potentially being ripped off. Always use a reputable company when buying goods. I know there is the temptation of obtaining ‘quality' goods at lower prices but you could find yourself out of pocket and then you'll end up effectively paying twice.
