Have you got experience of working with children and young people? Could you support young people to have a voice? Could you work as a volunteer advocate? Xpress Advocacy is looking for volunteer advocates to work with vulnerable young people throughout East Sussex. The next 4 day training course takes place on 22,23,24 and 25 January 2008. Dare to Care:making time to help end child poverty is a campaign led by CSV (Community Service Volunteers) and the Campaign to End Child Poverty. From now until the end of February 2008 we are looking for volunteers who can give a little time to do something special - help a child, young person or family living with the effects of poverty in this country. Action packs are on offer for organised activities including t-shirts, balloons, stickers etc. Activities are promoted on the website to attract additional volunteers and there are £80 grants up for grabs to help with costs. The Seaview Project based at the Southwater Centre, Hatherly Road, St. Leonards provides a drop in centre, housing support services and a health programme for marginalised and homeless people. They are seeking volunteers to help out with their tea bar and clothing store and also someone with practical skills to undertake basic maintenance tasks at the Centre. Training may be provided. The Royal National Institute for the Blind are seeking volunteers for their Talking Book scheme. Blind and partially sighted people my feel isolated. Working within your own area, you can make a difference by getting involved in your local community. You should be flexible and enjoy working with a range of people. You will help choose books and maintain Talking Book equipment in the client's own home. This role requires a CRB check. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. Anxiety Alliance is looking for volunteers to work on their helpline. Can you spare 4 hours a day, either between 10am-2pm, Or 2pm-6pm, or 6pm-10pm one day a week. Anxiety Alliance is a charity offering help, advice and support to those who suffer from anxiety disorders such as phobias, panic attacks, general anxiety and obsessional compulsive disorder, together with those who wish to withdraw from tranquillisers or anti-depressants.

You will work from home, and your telephone number will not be given out to callers. Free training will be given to successful applicants and this takes place over the telephone for one evening a week for a period of 8 weeks.

Are you over 18, a volunteer in the sports sector or thinking of becoming one? Are you interested in getting qualifications that will improve your role and help your organisation? Would you like to receive free training? On Your Marks Volunteer Training programme 2008 is providing free training for sports volunteers who attend all the mandatory elements of their training (health & safety, first aid sports injuries, child protection) plus one optional course (basic foreign language, basic IT, customer service, equality & diversity in sport). At the end of the course you will receive certificates and be registered with an Active Passport. Benefits of the programme are: free training and materials, valuable courses that meet the needs of the sports volunteer sector, help with transport costs, help with childcare costs, guidance for entry into volunteering and possible career prospects.
