Goodfella's, the UK's leading pizza maker, is once again teaming up with catering colleges across the UK in a search for the next master pizza maker. In recognition of the Michelin star credentials of Goodfella's La Bottega pizza range, the nationwide competition has been re-launched to find budding young chefs with a flair for pizza making!
Goodfella's will be at Cutting Edge Food & Wine School in Robertsbridge on Wednesday 5th December where they are hosting an Italian pizza making master class which will cover all elements of the pizza making process. The class will finish with a competition among the students to find the best pizza maker. The entries will be judged by college tutors, a local journalist and a Goodfella's representative.
The winning student from East Sussex will be given £200 to help further their studies and the chance to compete in a grand final later in the year. Here they will compete against students from six other colleges where they will re-create their winning pizza for the chance to be crowned La Bottega Pizza Maker of the Year and win cookery tuition at a cookery school in Italy. Goodfella's is also contributing £500 to help Cutting Edge Food & Wine School purchase equipment to support Italian cookery courses in the future.
Claire Kelly, Senior Brand Manager for Goodfella's La Bottega, comments: "Following the success of last year's La Bottega Pizza Maker of the Year competition we've re-launched the award to find a new master pizza maker for 2007. We will be looking for light and tasty pizza bases, as well as authentic mouth-watering toppings - one lucky student may even have the recipe made into a pizza to be sold in-store!"
