New Air Ambulance Helicopter

A NEW helicopter, based just inside the border of Surrey, will help Wealden residents and those in the west of East Sussex in need of urgent medical treatment. A Bolkow helicopter was previously used by the ambulance service when it started in June.
But operations manager John Tickner said the service always intended to upgrade to a new air ambulance helicopter.
The MD 902 Explorer is fitted with the latest medical and electronic mapping equipment.
He said: 'There are very few of this type of aircraft available and we are delighted to have finally taken delivery.
'The unique no tail rotor design, higher payload and more cabin space, and of course its speed make it a much better aircraft for air ambulance work.'
You can take a virtual tour of the new helicopter by visiting the website at www.sussexairambulance.co.uk
Sussex Air Ambulance is a charity depending on donations given by the public.
A sister Explorer helicopter is based in Kent.
From their base in Kent the helicopter flying time to the Hastings area is approximately 9 minutes. From the Surrey base to the Hastings area the flying time would be approximately 22minutes.
