Budding young artists from local secondary schools and colleges won PlayStation 3's, iPods Nanos and shopping vouchers in the Safer Hastings Partnership's Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Art Competition 2008.
The winners' artwork will be used on new leaflets about ASB illustrating how small decisions can lead to big consequences. At least 5,000 of these will be distributed locally by the Safer Hastings Partnership's ASB Unit, and will also be shown to the Home Office's Youth Task Force.
This is the Safer Hastings Partnership's fourth competition for local schools. It attracted more than 360 entries - almost double the number of last year's Respect Hastings Art Competition.
First prize in the College/6th Form category went to 16-year-old Danielle Rounds, who won a PlayStation 3 for herself and a digital camera for William Parker Sports College Federal 6th Form.
In the secondary school category, Issra Alazaibi, 12, came first, also winning a PlayStation 3 for herself and a digital camera for Helenswood Lower School.
The College/6th Form category second prize (an iPod Nano) and third prize (£50 high street voucher) went to Jamie Dunmill and Sasha Giles respectively, while Becky Mann was highly commended and received an MP4 Player.
Second and third prizes in the secondary school category were scooped by Alice Fletcher-Quinnell and Chelsea McGuigan, who won an iPod Nano and a £50 High Street voucher respectively.
Chief Inspector Andy Gooch, Chair of the Safer Hastings Partnership, said, "Congratulations to all the students who took part, but especially to the winners. We were delighted to receive more than 360 entries this year, particularly as it means so many local young people took the time to think about how small actions of anti-social behaviour can snowball. The new leaflet will show how important small decisions can be, and now we have fantastic artwork to illustrate it."
CI Gooch and Sussex Police Authority's Carole Shaves MBE JP presented the prizes.

The best 30 entries were short-listed (15 from secondary schools and 15 from colleges/6th forms). All of the short-listed students were invited to the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 19th March 2008 at Horntye Park, where they were presented with certificates and goody bags by Mayor Maureen Charlesworth.
Artwork by the winners and runners-up is now on the Safer Hastings Partnership's website at: www.saferhastings.co.uk.
