15 January 2008 Pick up free safety equipment and meet the Safer Hastings Partnership at Priory Meadow
The Safer Hastings Partnership will be giving away personal attack alarms, bike locks, tamper-proof tax disc holders, property marking pens and a variety of other crime reduction items at its ‘Meet the People' day inside Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday 26th January. The SHP is once again linking with the local Neighbourhood Renewal Team to hold this event to consult members of the public about their priorities, in order to form the Community Safety Plan 2008-11. Following car crime analysis, which reveals the five cars that have been most targeted in Hastings over the last three years, Sussex Police will be giving out free steering locks to owners of Ford Fiestas, Ford Escorts, Rover Metros, Vauxhall Astras and Vauxhall Corsas who bring their log books down to Priory Meadow on the day. Members of the SHP & Neighbourhood Renewal teams will be available from 9am to 5.30pm to hear residents' concerns about safety and to advise on crime prevention. Representatives of the SHP's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council's Warden Service & Licensing Team will also be there to talk to members of the public. Chief Inspector Andy Gooch, the new Chair of the Safer Hastings Partnership, said, "I want to encourage residents to come along to talk to us about community safety issues that concern them. This is an important opportunity for local residents to shape our priorities for reducing crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour in our town over the next three years." To find out more about the Safer Hastings Partnership, which brings together the work of Sussex Police Authority, Sussex Police, Hastings & St Leonards Primary Care Trust, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, East Sussex County Council, Hastings Borough Council and other agencies such as 1066 Housing Association, please visit: www.saferhastings.co.uk.
