Hastings Association of Retired People (HARP) is seeking a number of volunteers for general kitchen work in their ‘Pop In' tea bar for senior citizens. There are 3 roles available: - washing up; waiting and cleaning tables; serving and taking money at the counter. Hours required 10.00 - 12.30 once or twice a week. Out of pocket expenses (i.e. bus fares) will be re-imbursed. iCandy Community Arts in Queens Road are looking for volunteer workshop helpers to assist with the running of a community arts centre and shop. The role involves assisting with workshops, helping to run the shop and dealing with artists placing their work. Home-Start Hastings and Rother are a local registered charity within a strong national organisation that provides personalised support for parents with children under five by supplying trained volunteers to visit and befriend. They are seeking a new Trustee who is keen to make a difference and help the organisation offer a high quality service to local families.
The Trustees are a friendly and informal bunch who meet about eight times a year to monitor the scheme and plan developments. The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is the only national charity working to help people affected by MND secure the help and support they need, while promoting research into causes, treatments and a cure. They are seeking people to become Association Visitors to help reduce the sense of isolation that many people affected by the disease experience. Becoming an Association Visitor can be a rewarding and enriching experience. You don't need any personal experience of MND- just the desire to make a difference. Make a Wish Foundation grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. They would like to enlist the help of local people to volunteer and assist them by visiting local people and their families who meet their criteria to find out what they would like as their special wish. Also to help with fundraising and for those who like to give presentations, the opportunity to present to local schools, companies and groups. The Seaview Project based in St. Leonards works with vulnerable people to help them improve their quality of life by addressing poverty, homelessness, inequality and social exclusion. They are in the process of setting up a life skills course to take place at the centre to enable people to gain and improve skills to sustain accommodation, improve employment and educational opportunities and are looking for volunteer tutors to help run the courses. The specific areas they seeking tutors for are:- finance and budgeting, literacy and numeracy and preparing for employment.
